MEMENTO MORI :: Belle Morte No.1 :: Serpent and Skulls Ring

A bold statement ring, not for the faint of heart.  This ring is a hefty 17 grams of solid sterling silver, and is the only piece of jewellery you'll need to feel utterly badass.

Two serpents support the skull, one carved with botanical vines and the other with bones, both sides of the coin represented in one ring.

"Memento mori jewelry is the name given to sixteenth through eighteenth-century jewelry that was created as a reminder of the inevitability of death and the need to live piously. Translation from Latin, “remember you must die,” is very clearly indicative of the objective of the theme."

While I'm not leaning into any sort of pious ideology (I will consume ALL the chocolate and romance novels I want, thank you very much) I do love the idea of reminding myself to LIVE, now, and embracing all that this one precious life has to offer, because this one life is, maybe, all we get.
The skull reminds us that there is an ending, but the serpents remind us that perhaps this end is the beginning of something new, something better.
The serpents remind us that we can shed the things that hold us back, that we can transform, renew and EXPAND into what we want to become. We can emerge from an old idea and embrace a new one.
