It's a classic love story:
The God of the underworld falls in love with the daughter of the Spring Goddess. He kidnaps her, brings her to the land of the dead to make her his queen. She's not stoked. Hunger strike ensues and she eats only four pomegranate seeds.
While Persephone is underworld, the land above experiences winter for the first time (one month for every seed she ate)
When she returns (escapes?)the spring returns and now the earth gets seasons.
In some re-tellings Persephone loves Hades back and it's a spicy good time. Who knows the truth? I choose to lean into love, and while Hades probably (definitely) should not have done a kidnap, the idea of love despite their differences feels romantic and that's what I focus on.
This Hades signet ring is one of two in a set of connected ceremonial pieces designed for my dark romance lovers.

"Memento mori jewelry is the name given to sixteenth through eighteenth-century jewelry that was created as a reminder of the inevitability of death and the need to live piously. Translation from Latin, “remember you must die,” is very clearly indicative of the objective of the theme."
