We're all doing our best.

Sometimes that looks like elaborate posts and regular updates all over the internet.  But for me, certainly for the last little while, it has looked like earnest creation amidst a very chaotic and (sometimes bleakly dystopian) landscape.

Have you seen the news lately?

It's fucking grim.

I'm not going to deep dive into all the horrors, we've all been paying attention. But I will state right now that I am staunchly anti-AI, anti-fascist, anti-patriarchy, pro-trans, pro-queer, pro-choice, pro-art and deeply peri-menopausal. The rage is vast, hot and simmering.  If it wasn't clear from my general viewpoint on the arts, creation and witchery, let it be obvious now: I support human made art. I support human love and kindness. I support women, children and their safety. Fuck big tech. Fuck AI. Fuck the narrative that the world is careening into despair and there is nothing we can do about it.

We only get this one precious, beautiful, crazy life and I'm going to make the most of the time I have.

Right now, that looks like loving my family so hard, voting for the world I want to see, making weird art, beautiful adornment, writing stories where the good guys win and love blossoms and whimsy is embraced and I am always, ALWAYS going to choose love.

Let's get weird with it, yes?

It's October now, and I'm thick in my busiest season, my family is knee deep in the first school term and while we've been navigating the back to school plague, we've also been reconnecting with activities that bring us all peace and ease. This looks different for each of us, but we're all in need of some regulation.

My list of Things-To-Do is alarmingly long, but I'm determined to check things off and make progress towards the vision of my life I've set for myself.  I've got multiple events coming up, a new book to release, family holidays to plan for and a new world to build (this is specifically book related, but maybe it's for real life too)

Will I maintain a regular schedule for this blog?  I don't know!  I've got a newsletter over on Substack that I've been decently good at maintaining, but the consistency required to "Meet the Algorithm" feels like a mean trick and I've decided for myself and my own well being that I'm not going to stretch myself too thin in the service of that bullshit. As much as I can anyway.

I've updated Ye Olde Website with some new book information, the newest Serpent Sister designs have been added to the collection and I'm hopeful that the people who want my work will find me.

Yes, I know I have to do some marketing, and that's one of the things on my list. I KNOW. Okay!

But for me, this space is for art, creation and magic and that's where I'm going to focus.

The image for this post is my Divination Coins and as I'm typing this I realize that they might not be listed to the website yet (face palm) but I'll add THAT to the list as well and we're going to pretend that it's fine, EVERYTHING IS FINE. Ahem. The Divination Coins are a sweet token to remind you to trust your intuition.

Each side is represented with a positive symbol of protection, so no matter which side comes up for you, the answer is going to lead to something good. AND the idea is that YOU ALREADY KNOW THE ANSWER. It's inside you.  You just need to let yourself believe.

In yourself, in your capabilities, in your goodness... whatever it is, you've got this!

Come find me in person at the Halloween YYJ market at the ends of the month...

After that I'll be at the Owl Designer Fair and Winter Bazaar and finally at the Holiday Punk Market... stay tuned for more details on those events.  They are all epic and amazing and so thoughtfully organized, I'm incredibly grateful to be a part of each one.

I've got a book release coming out at the same time and I'm obsessed with this new story and world that I've built with my brain. It's so wild to me that these ideas and designs and stories are something I'VE MADE and I get to share them.

ART IS BONKERS. The muse is magic!

Please go out into the world and make something beautiful or weird or whimsical or thoughtful or bizarre. Just MAKE something. It's the best.
